Dr. Lyn Hancock (Liverpool University) looks at the criminalisation of space in terms of the consequences, both low-level and more serious, the application of a deviant label to an area has for those who live in such places.


The video is useful as both an extension of conventional ideas about labelling theory and as a way of introducing a slightly different dimension to the social distribution of crime and deviance in terms of locality.
