Fear of Crime

This particular issue focuses on the fear of crime and although it's based around an analysis of a particular area of American society (San Diago in California) it has wider applications to both the whole of America and, in many ways, the UK.

This follows because the "fear of crime" in both societies is markedly greater than the reality of victimhood - something that suggests the presence of underlying social causes common to both societies.

The panel discussion format includes contributions from a sociologist based at the University of San Diago (who identifies some familiar causes for both rising / falling crime statistics and crime fears).
