About

With the growth of sites like Google Video and YouTube the problems of "storage and expense" formerly associated with web video are largely overcome - this site no-longer has to store and stream video at its own expense, for example. The big advantage to this is that users gain access to video material "on demand" and I've categorised and described the materials available for you (so you don't have to trawl through all the rubbish).

The downside to this is that much of the (legal) video available is poor quality - not just in terms of sound and vision but, more-importantly, conception. Amateur film makers, even when armed with sophisticated video technology are, after all, amateur film makers. Keeping the limitations in mind, however, a video repository such as this can have individual and group benefits for Sociology teachers and students, not the least of which being that video can now be easily and efficiently used as a teaching and learning resource (just add "teaching inspiration", stir well and you're away).
