Applying to HE isn't just a case of getting some forms, filling them in, passing the relevant exams and then going to University (well, okay, it actually is about doing these things if you want to be picky about it - but it's not always that simple...).

You'll have heard it a hundred times before, but going to University is a Big Step - it's going to be at least three - expensive - years out of your life and, for this reason alone, it might be worth your while putting a bit of effort into your application; not just on the simple things like completing your UCAS application, but on things like thinking about:

• Where you want to study.
• Where you'd like to live when you're studying.
• What the course you've applied-for involves....

The focus of this section, therefore, is on helping you do a little bit of preparatory research before you even think about putting inky pen to the crumpled paper that will be your application form...
