Report Form
Guidance Notes:
The following is provided as a guide to the organisation of your Case Notes. You may find it useful to print this guide so that you can complete it more easily.
Once you have completed the Report Form you will be ready to write-up your final Report for presentation to your instructor.
It is advisable to use the Case Notes collected during your investigation as a source of reference for this Report.
1. Introduction
a. What was the problem you were asked to solve?
b. Who were your main suspects?
c. How were they involved in the case?
(What theories did you examine?)
d. Who were your main witnesses and to what did their evidence relate?
2. Report
a. What were the main facts you needed to explain?
b. For each of your suspects:
Outline the theories you investigated to explain the suspect's involvement. Alongside each theory, outline the evidence from your witnesses, both for and against the theory, that explained your suspect's involvement.
3. Conclusions
a. What theories / suspects / evidence did you reject (with a brief explanation about why you rejected it)
b. What suspects / theories did you accept (with a brief explanation about why you accepted it).
c. What is your overall conclusion about the case?
