Culture While some of the values of this subculture (for example, wanting to get an A-level qualification) and the norms associated with these values (for example, gaining a qualification by passing examinations) may be different to the values and norms of other subcultures, they can still be part of the wider culture in our society. Indeed, the reason you might value an educational qualification is precisely because this qualification has a value in wider society. A prospective employer, for example, might offer you a job on the basis of your educational qualifications, whereas they wouldn't consider you for the job if you didn't have the qualifications. |
