Role Performance. This concept relates to how successfully you play your prescribed role. If you think about it, all students play the same basic role, but their performance - measured in terms of their relative success or failure in that role, for example - will vary dramatically. Alternatively, there may be more than one way to perform a role successfully. One teacher, for example, may interpret their role as being mainly about keeping order and control in the classroom. Students would not be allowed to talk to each other or move around the classroom. Another teacher may, on the other hand, interpret their role quite differently - they may encourage their students to do the very opposite... |
