Age-Related Subcultures It's important to note that although, for the sake of theoretical convenience, I've classified "youth subcultures" as being age-related, it's evident that factors such as social class, gender and ethnicity are also important in this context. We must, for example, take account of the fact that youth subcultures come in a variety of different forms: middle-class youth subcultures may well develop in very different ways to working-class youth subcultures, just as the behaviour of young men and women may result in substantially-different subcultural forms. |
