Youth Subcultures: Questions
We can, for example, note the following questions:
Firstly, numerous sociological studies of youth subcultures have focused on male involvement, yet few, if any (until very recently perhaps) have given much attention to the involvement of females. This poses two possible critical questions:
a. Why do youth subcultures seem to be predominantly male?
b. Do women form different types of subcultural groups to those of males?
c. Why do some (but not all) working class boys see deviant subcultures as an alternative form of status?
d. Is there a class basis to youth subcultures?
