Oppositional It's important to note here that, in terms of the fact that each subcultural organisation has different aims and interests we can note the theoretical opposition of each of these groups. That is, the idea that one group exists because another group exists. For example, the existence of Trade Unions as a form of working class subcultural group within the workplace is counter-balanced (or opposed, in many senses) by the existence of Employer organisations. However, you should be aware that, in practice, co-operation between the various subcultural groups is a feature of behaviour in this particular area of society. Thus, Trade Unions, for example, may co-operate with Employer Associations to ensure order and stability in the workplace - and hence the production process - by providing employers with a recognisable representative of their employees through which to conduct negotiations over pay, conditions and the like. |
