| A Message Board is a
place where you can post messages in real-time. In other words, any
message you send to the Board will be displayed immediately - which is
also the case whenever anyone replies to your message. This makes Message
Boards more interactive than a Notice Board system and - depending upon
the number of people using them at any given time - a more immediate way
to offer or receive help and advice.
In the case of the Boards recommended here you will need to register in order to use all their facilities (mainly the ability to post public and private messages - the latter being the ability to send a message to a registered Board member that can only be read by them). The registration process is fairly straightforward and simply involves choosing a username (the name under which your messages will appear - most people chose a username that describes - but does not identify - them) and a password. If you use any of these Boards, please be very careful about the personal information you choose to give to people. |
