Breadth and Scope

Leaving aside the observation that decisions about Key Skills provision are related to things like funding issues and the schools / colleges "Do they, don't they / will they, won't they? should they, shouldn't they? offer them" debate, the current word-on-the-street is that a student studying at AS / A2 level can be reasonably expected to study one Key Skill at Level 3 and one further Key Skill at Level 2.

This usually translates as:

AS Level: Communication Level 3 and IT Level 2

A2 Level: One of the Wider Key Skills at Level 3 and one at Level 2.

This, of course, is not set in stone - if a student is particularly good at Maths. they could take Application of Number as their Level 3 Key Skill, for example.
