Social Science Directories

Although this type of site is similar to both a Search Directory and a Web Ring, the main way it differs from the former is that it is subject specific, while it differs from the latter in terms of the fact that the sites it lists are not linked to each other in any way.

In some ways, therefore, a social science directory is a useful place from which to start your search for resources for two main reasons:

Firstly, as with a Web Ring, you know that sites in the directory will be focused on the particular area / topic you want to explore (in this instance, Sociology).

Secondly, as with a Search Directory, each of the sites listed will have been evaluated - and in some instances rated - by the Directory owners, rather than by the owners of the individual Web Sites listed.
