Introduction to Sociology
This complete section, taken from the published version of AS Sociology for AQA, introduces some of the basic concepts involved in understanding the sociological perspective. These include, in no particular order, the difference between facts and opinions, instinct and culture, concepts of culture, roles, norms, values and the socialisation process. The material is more up-to-date than the "Introduction to Sociology" teaching notes and has been designed to meet the requirements of the 2006 AQA Specification.

Macro and Micro Perspectives

Introduction to Sociological Perspectives

In this two-part video, Part 1 (4 minutes) outlines some of the general principles of macro sociology, while Part 2 (5 minutes) deals with the general principles involved in micro sociology. As a pair, the two complementary films are designed to help teachers introduce these complex ideas in a simple visual way.

AS Sociology for AQA - Order Inspection Copy If you like what you've read of the free extract then why not find out "What Happens Next" in what people (no names, no law suits) are calling this "thrilling saga of Sociological Folk"? Just to give you a sneak preview, I don't think I'm giving too much away when I say that the cliff hanger ending of the extract subsequently unfolds with a heart-warming tale of agencies of socialisation. Next, the action (pun intended) moves on to look at social structure and social action (see, told you it was intended) before the chapter comes to a shuddering halt with a brief overview of sociological perspectives.

If you want my honest opinion, it's quite good but I think I'll probably wait for the film.
