Methods Simulation

This simulation is designed to help students think about a number of ideas relating to both sociological theory / methods and the sociology of deviance (something that relates to the A2 Synoptic module).

The specific objective of the simulation is to get students thinking about the significance of both representative sampling and the concept of data validity, though the medium of of a "school theft" and a subsequent set of research interviews.

In this respect, the simulation helps students understand different interpretations of social behaviour and that sociologists, when they study / research social behaviour, need to collect and interpret data from as wide a variety of different sources as possible to evaluate the significance of that behaviour.
