History

This section looks briefly at two areas:

• A selected history of print media with the emphasis
  mainly - but not exclusively - being on how this has developed in the United Kingdom.
   
• A brief history of electronic media.

Both sections focus on identifying significant dates in the historical development of the respective media by way of providing a general "development timeline". The main purpose of this timeline is to familiarise students with the general historical background to media developments.
