"Family formation in multi-cultural Britain:
three patterns of diversity"

Richard Berthoud's recent (2004) work on family diversity involves a comparison between the family structures of a range of ethnic groups (minority and majority) in the UK.

Aside from its interesting contribution to our understanding of family diversity amongst different ethnic groups, the work is also notable for it's extensive use of quantitative data, making it a useful study for students who want to explore the use of this type of data in sociological research.

You can download this research from here or - if you prefer to "try before you buy", a non-technical summary is also available.
