Historical Developments in English Education
Although a knowledge of the historical development of education in Britain isn't a requirement of the AQA Specification, it's sometimes useful to see where we've been, as a society, in order to understand where we are now and, of course, where we may be going in the future.
The "potted history" in this section, therefore, looks at the history of education in our society and is designed to be a simple overview of educational provision - the book goes into much more depth and detail about developments to and changes within our education system following the 1944 Education Act.
Having duly noted this, we can start by looking at the
earliest recorded instances of educational provision in England.
