This short PowerPoint presentation can be used to introduce the concept of sociological theory.
The concept is initially defined and related to everyday life; the idea of different types of theory (high level, mid-range and low-level) is then explained and used as a way of introducing the idea of different types of sociological perspective (Functionalism, Marxism, Feminism, Interactionism and Postmodernism).
If you have a reasonable internet connection (more than 56k...) you should
be able to view the presentation online. Alternatively, it can be
downloaded for viewing on the desktop or, if you have a data projector, in
the classroom.
